Benefits:
Base: The base is a heavy, stress relieved steel weldment. It is designed to give support direct from the foundation in such a manner as to eliminate vibration and preserve alignment over a long period of time, while operating to the full designed load capacity of this machine.
Crown: The crown is a heavy, stress relieved steel weldment of sufficient size and strength to support the cross slide and grinding wheel head under maximum work load. It is braced internally in such a manner as to eliminate vibration and maintain alignment. The crown is precision machined and fitted to the base. Precision way areas are provided in the crown for mounting the cross slide on hardened and ground ball bearing ways.
Work Spindle: The work spindle is a self-contained unit mounted on precision tapered roller bearings and has infinitely variable speeds, as specified under Machine Specifications. The work spindle is driven by an AC motor through multiple V-belts. The work spindle has an A2-8" ASA Standard nose, providing direct mounting of work table; magnetic, mechanical and power operated chucks. Accuracy is .000l" runout and camming at the spindle nose.
Cross Slide & Grinding Head: The cast iron cross slide is moved horizontally by a precision hardened and ground anti-backlash type ball screw and nut. The cross slide is equipped with both rapid traverse and automatic feed in either direction. The vertical slide support is precision fitted to the cross slide and arranged to swivel a maximum of ± 45 degrees for grinding tapers as well as straight I.D. and O.D. The cartridge type grinding spindle is driven by a precision balanced grinding spindle motor through a Poly-Vee belt and adequate provisions are made to maintain proper tension of the drive belt at all times without the use of an idler. A load meter is provided to monitor the grinding efficiency of the wheel head. The grinding spindle moves in the slide support on hardened and ground ways.
Lubrication System: Lubrication is automatic and is controlled by the CNC.
Coolant System: The machine is furnished with a complete coolant system including pump, motor, piping, valves, settling tank, and splash guards. (Optional filtration units are available.) Standard coolant tank capacity is 50 gallons.
