In 2002, Bourn & Koch, Inc. acquired Fellows. Since then, we have continued the tradition of manufacturing the world-class Fellows Gear Shaper in our Rockford, Illinois plant. We are located just a few short miles from where Barber-Colman built their world-famous gear hobber. Our new lines of Fellows Gear Shaper can produce AGMA class 10 gears without grinding. Cutting gears to that level of excellence starts with the precise manufacture and assembly of our machines. Our in-house machining capabilities combined with precision assemblers ensure that every machine we build is well-crafted and designed to last.
Bourn & Koch manufactures Fellows Gear Shapers in either mechanical or Hydrostroke™ vertical stroking configurations. We still manufacture classic Fellows Gear Shapers like the 10-4 and the 20-4, re-engineered and built to accommodate today’s rigorous gear manufacturing standards. Each machine is CNC-controlled with servo-motion control on up to 7 axes with hand-scraped bearing surfaces and accurate ball screws for easily achieving high tolerances. Our conversational HMI guides the operator through the gear cutting process, reducing specialized training required to run the machine. Designed to cut internal and external spur and helical gears, each Fellows Gear Shaper is a versatile tool crafted by precision machine tool builders with decades of experience.
